Policies related to AMHC’s Therapist Directory
AMHC is dedicated to supporting mental health in the Asian community, and this directory is intended to be a resource to those seeking help. The providers in this directory have indicated their interest in serving the community and have requested to be listed, and we at AMHC do not charge a listing fee. We attempt to verify licensure of a therapist at the time that therapist is listed but cannot guarantee their continued compliance. AMHC is not a healthcare provider. We do not endorse any provider and cannot confirm the effectiveness of their services. When utilizing this directory, please exercise reasonable caution and conduct your own due diligence.
We understand ‘Asian’ as a pan-ethnic identity that refers to individuals who identify as Asian and includes people with ancestry from Asia, including East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and West Asia (sometimes described as the “Middle East”). We acknowledge that Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians have historically been grouped along with Asians in the US, some of whom also identify as Asian. We also recognize those in our broader community who support us and who may need support as well.
The practice of therapists on this directory is not endorsed in any way by the Asian Mental Health Collective, and all professional conduct and liability falls within the therapist’s ethical and legal obligations of their respective licensing body.
Therapists must provide proof of an active license in a mental health profession to be approved for the AMHC Therapist Directory.
It is AMHC’s policy that approval to be on the AMHC Therapist Directory also serves as approval to be an AMHC Therapy Fund provider. Learn more about AMHC’s Lotus Therapy Fund here.
Asian Mental Health Collective reserves the right to pause a therapist’s participation in this directory if profile information provided is not accurate or the therapist has violated any of AMHC’s policies.
Policies related to AMHC’s Therapy Funds
AMHC is dedicated to supporting mental health in the Asian community, and this Therapy Fund program is intended to be a resource to those seeking help. Therapy Fund providers have indicated their interest in serving the community and have requested to be a part of this program. We attempt to verify licensure of a therapist at the time that therapist is listed but cannot guarantee their continued compliance. AMHC is not a healthcare provider. We do not endorse any provider and cannot confirm the effectiveness of their services. When utilizing this Therapy Fund program, please exercise reasonable caution and conduct your own due diligence.
Therapy Fund providers must have an active license in a mental health profession, and must be approved to be on the AMHC Therapist Directory.
For provisionally/associate licensed providers (ASW, LMSW, LAMFT, LAPC, LCMHCA, etc.): if your state/jurisdiction allows you to work with clients in private practice, you may participate as a provider in AMHC’s Therapy Funds.
AMHC Therapy Funds are only offered to our community members who are living in the U.S., and who are 18 years of age or older. More details on AMHC and its work can be found here.
Therapy Funds can be used for therapy sessions run by an AMHC Therapy Fund provider, whether they are individual, couple, family, or group sessions. No matter the type of session, it will count as one Therapy Fund session.
Example: For one couples therapy session, one (1) session will be added to the Therapy Fund client’s session count.
Therapy Fund clients are not responsible for the cost of awarded sessions.
AMHC is not responsible for ensuring that clients and providers utilize and remain within the eight free therapy sessions per cohort.
If a client has reached their limit of Therapy Fund sessions, the client is responsible for their continued treatment and its payment.
Furthermore, AMHC is not responsible for reimbursing for sessions that occur in addition to the eight awarded sessions per cohort.
Therapy Fund providers are paid $150 per session.
The length of a billable Therapy Fund session is 60 minutes. Sessions themselves may be longer, but each hour is considered a session. Reimbursement for “partial” sessions is not allowed.
Example: AMHC cannot pay out a 1.5 hour session as $150 x 1.5 LTF sessions).
Reimbursement for couples or family therapy for Therapy Fund recipients is allowed, but the rate per session remains consistent ($150/session).
Balance billing—the act of charging a client for the difference between a typical session rate and the AMHC reimbursement rate—is strictly disallowed.
The deadline for submitting all therapy fund invoices and receiving payment is Close of Business (COB) on the 15th of the month after the quarter ends.
Example: Q1 therapy fund runs from January 1 – March 31st, so all invoices are due by April 15th.
If a Therapy Fund recipient has been approved for an extension, invoices will be due the 15th of the month following their extension deadline.
Invoices will not be processed if submitted after this date.
There is no fee for recipients to apply. Likewise, there is no fee for a therapist to join our directory as a Therapy Fund provider.
AMHC Therapy Fund providers are responsible for any clinical supervision requirements as well as liability insurance.
AMHC defers to the provider’s cancellation policy.
A typical cancellation policy requires clients to provide 24–48 hours notification for cancellation. Therapy Fund providers may opt to waive one late cancellation due to the nature of Therapy Fund clientele, as many are seeking mental health care for the first time.
If a client was late to/missed a billable session, that counts as one of the eight total Therapy Fund sessions.
Therapy Funds can be used for in-person or telehealth sessions, assuming the telehealth platform used is HIPAA compliant.
Regardless of whether you see your therapist in-person or virtually, Therapy Fund providers must be licensed in the client’s state of residence.
Clients are solely responsible for reaching out to providers they are interested in working with.
***Clients may only see a provider who is licensed in their state of residence (including PSYPACT).
***It is not AMHC’s responsibility to directly assist a client in finding a provider or assess therapeutic fit.
If you don’t have future sessions planned with your provider, it is not necessary to notify your provider if you’re switching away from them. A short email is sufficient to notify your provider that you won’t be scheduling more sessions with them.
If you do have future sessions scheduled, you should notify your provider about session cancellations and mention you are seeking a different provider. Remember to review their cancellation policy, as one of your sessions may be deducted if you do not cancel within the agreed upon window.
The role of a Therapy Fund provider is to prepare to respond to therapy fund clients who reach out for therapy sessions.
Status as an active Therapy Fund provider does not guarantee a match with a Therapy Fund client; matching depends on whether a client chooses to work with you.
Therapy Fund clients may switch providers and use their awarded sessions across multiple providers.
If future sessions are not planned with a provider, it is not required to notify a provider when switching to a different provider.
If future sessions are scheduled, the provider should be notified about session cancellations and the search for a different provider. Clients are still subject to the therapist’s cancellation policy if applicable.
Therapy Fund clients may request a time extension to complete their 8 awarded sessions after the planned end date of the current cohort.
AMHC reserves the right to grant or deny a time extension for the 8 awarded sessions.
In order for a Therapy Fund client to receive more than the 8 awarded sessions, they must reapply during the next open application round. There is no guarantee of placement according to prior involvement with AMHC Therapy Funds.
AMHC define’s “referral” as sending Therapy Fund information to prospective applicants; a referral does not bestow any preference to the applicant’s recipient application.
There is no limit to the number of Therapy Fund clients a Therapy Fund provider can see.
Therapy funds can only be used to reimburse providers on the AMHC Therapist Directory.

Asian Mental Health Collective (“AMHC”) is committed to making our website, www.asianmhc.org, usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is part of our broader commitment to equity, inclusion, and mental health care for our communities.
We know that people access our resources in many different ways. Our goal is that visitors can navigate, understand, and use our content regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology.
We aim for our website and digital content to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which outline how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
As standards evolve, we may also look to updated WCAG guidance and other best practices to inform improvements to our site over time.
To help ensure accessibility of asianmhc.org, we take steps such as:
Striving for sufficient color contrast between text and background
Using clear, descriptive headings and consistent page structure
Supporting keyboard navigation wherever possible
Adding text alternatives for images and non-text content that convey essential information
Writing in plain, clear language where possible
Avoiding using color alone to convey meaning
Ensuring links are descriptive (for example, avoiding using only “click here”)
Working with our web and technology partners to address accessibility concerns in templates, plugins, and theme updates
Reviewing new features and major changes with accessibility in mind
Periodically reviewing parts of the site to identify accessibility issues
Prioritizing fixes that address barriers to core tasks, such as:
Finding a therapist
Learning about our programs and resources
Accessing information about getting support
Because we use third-party tools and services (such as forms, donation platforms, and embedded content), there may be components that are partially outside our direct control, but we make efforts to select vendors that prioritize accessibility.
While we work to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA where feasible, we recognize that some areas of the site may not yet fully conform. Examples may include:
Archived or older content that was created before our current accessibility efforts
Certain third-party embeds, plugins, or media players that may not fully support assistive technologies
Occasional headings, form labels, or alternative text that could be improved or clarified
We welcome feedback about specific barriers so we can prioritize improvements.
If you experience any difficulty using our website or encounter content you cannot access because of a disability, please let us know so we can help.
You can contact us by:
Using our General Inquiry form on our Contact page
When you reach out, it is helpful (but not required) to include:
The page URL where you experienced the issue
A brief description of the problem
The browser, device, and any assistive technology you were using (for example, a screen reader or screen magnifier)
We will review your message, work to address the barrier where possible, and share alternative ways to access the information if needed.
This Accessibility Policy applies to content published on www.asianmhc.org and any other web pages under the asianmhc.org domain that AMHC directly manages. It does not cover third-party websites or platforms that we may link to (such as external forms, social media, or partner sites), which are governed by their own policies.
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. We may update this policy as:
Web accessibility standards change
We introduce new features or sections to our site
We receive feedback from users, including people with disabilities
If you have any questions or comments regarding these policies or any of the practices described, please contact us at: https://www.asianmhc.org/contact/.
