Install and update Android apps straight from where their developers publish them. Tern checks every file before Android sees it.

For Android 9 and later, on phones, tablets and TVs. About 7 MB. Each release lists the SHA-256 of its file.

What it does

• Follows the releases of apps on GitHub, GitLab, Codeberg and other Forgejo servers, SourceHut, SourceForge, Jenkins, F-Droid repositories and plain download links, and, once you turn them on, in third-party stores from APKPure to the Galaxy Store.
• Checks who signed each file, holds every update to the certificate of the first install, and compares the checksum the publisher gave. A file that fails is not installed.
• Says what it found in plain words, and keeps a log of every download, check and install.
• Installs without asking through Shizuku or root if you like, and shows what is waiting on a widget, a Quick Settings tile and in notifications you can update from.
• Works by remote on Android TV. A phone can send links and your app list to the TV, sealed with a code that never leaves the screen.
• Goes through Tor with Orbot when you ask it to, and never around it.
• Reads an export from Obtainium, so your list comes along.
• Needs no account, and has no analytics and no ads. It is free software under the GPL.
