CLI Reference

Command-line interface for tapes. Each command manages different aspects of session capture, storage, and analysis.

Setup & Configuration

tapes init

Initialize a local .tapes/ directory for project configuration and storage.

tapes auth

Store API credentials for LLM providers in ~/.tapes/credentials.toml.

tapes config

Manage persistent configuration in .tapes/config.toml.

Running tapes

tapes start

Start tapes and launch an agent with automatic daemon management.

tapes serve

Run the proxy, API, and derive worker with explicit control over ports and configuration.

tapes local

Bootstrap a local Postgres + Ollama in Docker.

Getting Data In

tapes seed

Seed demo sessions through the normal ingest path.

tapes backfill

Replay transcripts and wire-trace bundles into the raw layer.

Session Analysis

List captured sessions and their ids.

Search sessions using semantic similarity.

ROI dashboard for agent sessions with cost and token metrics.

tapes export

Export a captured session as JSONL — the API projection (needs a running API).
