Add an organisation wide security policy
Our repositories had no way for someone to report a vulnerability privately. Private vulnerability reporting was disabled and no SECURITY.md existed, so a researcher's only option was a public issue, which is the opposite of what you want. Private reporting is now enabled on the five Django packages, and this gives it a documented front door. GitHub serves this file to every repository in the organisation that has no policy of its own, so it is written once rather than copied. The response commitment is deliberately modest. A week to acknowledge is something a small team can keep; a 24 hour promise is not, and a policy nobody can meet is worse than none. The last section matches the AI assistance policy in CONTRIBUTING.md: disclosure is asked for, reproducibility is required either way. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <[email protected]>
