Closes #353

Summary

  • enable the shared, review-first Inbox Cleanup detector for Exchange Web Services connections
  • cover EWS distinguished mailbox roles and stable provider search-key identity in Swift Testing
  • document EWS reconciliation behavior and add a patch changeset

Validation

  • Red/green: the new EWS Inbox Cleanup test failed before the production change and passed afterward
  • InboxCleanupTests on Mac Catalyst: 12/12 passed
  • EWSMailboxConnectionAdapterTests on Mac Catalyst: 133/133 passed
  • touched-file swift-format lint --strict: passed
  • touched-file swiftlint lint --strict --no-cache: passed with 0 violations
  • plutil -lint apps/unwired-mail/unwired-mail.xcodeproj/project.pbxproj: passed
  • git diff --check: passed
  • iOS Simulator Debug build-for-testing on iPhone 17 UDID D6D43A14-3B1A-41B6-B25A-0DFCA1BFB089: passed
  • focused iOS Simulator test execution: unavailable before XCTest because the baseline Simulator reported a missing testmanagerd Unix-domain socket; no test assertion ran
  • full Apple lint: Swift Format passed; SwiftLint remains blocked by the pre-existing unrelated function_body_length violation in BlockedSenderSyncService.swift:516
  • Release performance and Core Mail Loop execution were not repeated after the Simulator runner infrastructure failure; hosted CI should run the affected-path gates

Remaining human actions

None beyond normal review and hosted CI.

The Apple app must provide formatter, linter, and test commands. Run zsh scripts/check-apple-lint.zsh for format and lint, and use the documented xcodebuild test command for tests; SwiftLint runs in strict mode.

Apple validation must use SwiftLint strict mode and Swift Format strict linting; if Apple tooling is unavailable, report that clearly in the final handoff.

12341-12342: 🩺 Stability & Availability

Complete cancellation-path validation before merge.

The new ordering is correct. Add or run a focused test that cancels before the task resumes and verifies MailboxMessageReading.loadMessageBody is not called. The supplied validation reports that focused simulator tests are unavailable because of the missing testmanagerd socket. Run the documented xcodebuild test command when the simulator is available. Run zsh scripts/check-apple-lint.zsh and document the unrelated pre-existing SwiftLint violation.

As per path instructions, this change requires focused tests for the changed behavior and failure path; as per coding guidelines, Apple validation must use strict SwiftLint, Swift Format, and the documented xcodebuild test command.

📝 Walkthrough

Summary

  • Adds Inbox Cleanup support for authorized EWS connections in the Apple Swift cleanup flow.
  • Uses distinguished mailbox roles and stable provider-scoped item identity.
  • Stops ambiguous EWS mutations for reconciliation instead of retrying them.
  • Preserves Gmail and standards-based mail behavior.
  • Keeps cleanup review-first and limits actions to moving messages to provider Trash. Permanent deletion remains unavailable.
  • Adds Swift Testing coverage for EWS roles, identity stability, and sender normalization.
  • Documents the EWS behavior in README.md.
  • Adds patch changesets for Inbox Cleanup and visible mail rendering.
  • Prioritizes visible message rendering before message-body prefetching by yielding before cancellation checks in AccountView.
  • No TypeScript areas changed.

Validation

  • Inbox Cleanup and EWS adapter tests passed.
  • Formatting, lint checks on touched files, project validation, and diff checks passed.
  • iOS Simulator build-for-testing passed.
  • Focused simulator tests were unavailable because the testmanagerd socket was missing.
  • Full SwiftLint remains blocked by a pre-existing unrelated violation.

Walkthrough

Inbox Cleanup now permits eligible Exchange Web Services connections and tests provider-specific identity and sender handling. Visible message-body prefetching yields before its cancellation check. Two patch changesets document these updates.

Visible Mail Rendering Prefetch

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to e7b27

This PR enables Inbox Cleanup for EWS and changes account-view cancellation behavior. Cleanup proposals may be created without clearly established Inbox and Trash role verification, and the cancellation failure path remains unvalidated because simulator tests could not run; merge should wait for these checks or explicit owner acceptance.
