Could not load types from assembly uComponents.DataTypes
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Could not load types from assembly uComponents.DataTypes, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null, errors:
Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'umbraco.editorControls.mediapicker.MemberPickerDataType' from assembly 'umbraco.editorControls, Version=1.0.5261.28135, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
Hi @kieranjohn - it's a known issue. Certain underlying API changes were made in Umbraco v7.x and uComponents still compiles against v6.x.
Currently the workaround is to delete the `uComponents.DataTypes.dll" from your /bin folder.
(As non of the old style DataTypes will work with v7 back-office).
@Hendy - I think this error appears when you install uComponents (in v7) ... as the umbraco.editorControls.mediapicker.MemberPickerDataType was an old old typo (for the media picker control), which got removed from the v7 API, but we reference it in DataTypeGrid.
It should be fixable, I just need to make the time to do a (uComponents) v6.1.0 release.
Hey sorry. I am getting back into umbraco after 2 years away and much has changed. It appears that uComponents (the first extension I would install) has been broken up into several smaller extensions.
@kieranjohn No worries. Since changes with Umbraco 7, it would have been a lot of work to rebuild the full uComponents suite in it. Luckily there are already many great counterparts - as @Hendy mentioned nuPickers and there is also Archetype.
uComponents v6.1.0 package will install without error in Umbraco v7.x back-office. In terms of data-types - no, it's not happening - there are many great alternatives, (see comments above).

Hi @kieranjohn for a Member Picker in Umbraco 7.1.4, you could use nuPickers

Welcome back to Umbraco! 😎

This has been fixed in the v6.1.0 release.

Any ETA to support v7.x?
leekelleher commentedon Dec 5, 2015
@Korayem How do you mean with v7 support?

@leekelleher excellent! Indeed, Archetype and nuPicks seem to cover it for me.
You could also update the project description on Our Umbraco and Github readme.md for noobs like me to know it doesn't support v7.x
