Found while writing winget manifests for the rivet apps: the WiX package's Manufacturer is filled with the reverse-DNS application identifier, so Add/Remove Programs shows a machine identifier as the publisher.
Evidence from released artifacts:
- podlens 1.2.0 MSI → ARP Publisher
site.jrtx.podlens
- payback 1.3.0 MSI → ARP Publisher
site.jrtx.payback
Source: rivet-cli/installer.rkt renders <Package Name="~a" Manufacturer="~a" ...> and fills Manufacturer with (xml-escape identifier) (line ~84), while Name already uses display-name.
Impact:
- Every rivet Windows app presents its reverse-DNS identifier as "Publisher" in Add/Remove Programs.
- winget manifests (
AppsAndFeaturesEntries.Publisher) must mirror that value to stay consistent with the registry.
Suggestion:
- Optional
publisher field in rivet.rktd; Manufacturer := publisher ?? display-name (identifier keeps driving upgrade-code-for and INSTALLFOLDER naming).
- Update the
tests/windows-installer.rkt fixture accordingly.
