search_commands boosted read-only commands when the model-written query or action contained read verbs (get, read, list, show, inspect) and no write verbs. Replace that keyword matching with an explicit optional `readOnly` input: when the model sets `readOnly: true`, relevant read-only commands get the same +200 bonus and the "read-only command" match reason. Verbs in `query` or `action` no longer affect ranking; `action` stays a plain lexical hint. Lexical relevance scoring (rankCommandDescriptors / scoreCommandDescriptor) is unchanged: it is retrieval, not intent inference. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>

Summary
search_commandsdecided whether to favor read-only commands by keyword-matching the model-writtenquery(oraction): read verbs (get, read, list, show, inspect) with no write verbs gave relevant read-only commands a +200 boost. This replaces that verb parsing with a structured input the model sets.readOnly: booleanonSearchCommandsToolParameters. When the model setsreadOnly: true, relevant read-only commands get the same +200 bonus and theread-only commandmatch reason.queryoractionno longer affect ranking.actionstays a plain lexical hint.readOnly: falseor omitted gives no bonus. Afalsebranch favoring state-changing commands was left out on purpose: commands that don't declarereadOnlydefault tofalse, so it would also boost commands that only read.Lexical ranking unchanged.
rankCommandDescriptors/scoreCommandDescriptormatch query words against command IDs, names and keywords. That is retrieval rather than intent inference, and the only structured alternative is the model naming the command ID, which it can already do.Behaviour change for callers: a caller that relied on
