Current concerns remain around missing geometry, failed standalone SQL retries, stale heatmap output, incorrect cleanup ordering, and unnecessary or mismatched layer rebuilds after errors, so merge should wait for fixes or explicit owner acceptance. In `@packages/deck/src/DeckJsonMap.tsx`:
- Line 253: Add a regression test for adapter layer replacement that uses two
layers with the same constructor.name but different static layerName values,
then verifies the overlay clears the old layer before applying the replacement.
Cover the heatmap-to-scatterplot cleanup path and assert the resulting layer
state after replacement.
- Around line 302-305: Replace the delimiter-based datasetIdKey serialization
and split in the dataset ID memoization flow with a lossless JSON-based encoding
and decoding, preserving sorted key order and the empty-dataset behavior. Update
the datasetIdKey and datasetIds logic without changing unrelated dataset
resolution code.
In `@packages/deck/src/json/createDeckJsonConfiguration.ts`:
- Around line 424-438: Replace the datasetId fallback in both pending and ready
layer construction paths with a stable, per-layer unique identity derived from
the source specification or another deterministic layer identity. Update the
relevant logic around stripLayerExtensionProps and layer creation so distinct
layers bound to the same dataset receive different ids while repeated
conversions preserve those ids, and add a regression test covering two layers
bound to earthquakes.
In `@packages/deck/src/mapResourceAuthoring.ts`:
- Around line 218-244: Update sqlIsLonLatProjectionMissingGeometry to determine
whether geometryColumn is present in the selected output projection or resolved
result schema, rather than matching identifiers across the full SQL text; keep
geometry references used only in WHERE, JOIN, or ORDER BY from counting as
output geometry, and add a regression case covering those clauses.
- Around line 695-702: Update the repair message generated in the map layer
validation flow to branch on the bound dataset’s source type: recommend
transformSql with __sqlrooms_source for table-backed sources, but instruct
standalone source.sqlQuery datasets to revise the query to project the WKB point
directly. Keep the geometryColumn, geometryEncodingHint, and longitude/latitude
binding guidance consistent with the applicable source form.
- Around line 18-32: Add direct TSDoc comments for the exported type
DeckMapResourceConfigIssue and the exported function
formatDeckMapResourceConfigIssueForAgent, describing their purpose and the
function’s formatting behavior; retain the existing property documentation and
implementation.
Apply the same fix in `@packages/deck/src/DeckMapErrorOverlay.tsx` around lines 8
- 14: The same missing exported-symbol documentation requirement applies to the
overlay component.

Keep Float64 heatmap weights on the accessor path
When getWeight references a typical DuckDB DOUBLE column, this accepts its Arrow Float64 vector and sends a Float64Array through GeoArrow's binary weight attribute. Heatmap weights are not double-precision attributes, so luma.gl rejects that buffer rather than rendering the layer—the same repository code already avoids Float64Array for other non-double-precision attributes. Restrict this shortcut to Float32 vectors or downcast Float64 weights before using the binary path.

Document the reduced heatmap texture default
This changes the public DeckJsonMap behavior by defaulting every managed GeoArrowHeatmapLayer to a 512-pixel weights texture instead of deck.gl's 2048 default, trading rendering resolution for interaction speed, but the package README does not mention either the new default or the weightsTextureSize override. Document the default and its quality/performance tradeoff so consumers can choose the appropriate resolution.
