Dependabot's "Signed-off-by" commit message gets cleared in merge commits #9330

Description

Hi! When merging a PR that Dependabot signs off, the commit message gets cleared, as expected. However, this also strips the "Signed-off-by" message that Dependabot adds. Only the "Co-authored-by" message remains.

One can also notice it being cleared, as the text is momentarily visible upon clicking the "Squash and merge"

Therefore:

  • Would it be alright to omit the "Signed-off-by" field when the same author adds it?
  • Since this is a destructive action, it would also be nice if there could be an "Undo?" hyperlink/button next to the "The description field was cleared by Refined GitHub." sentence, so that I can look at what was removed and rework it (and similarly a "Redo?" hyperlink/button after undoing it). Happy to open this as a separate issue, but I thought it was kind of relevant to this behaviour.

Thank you!

How to replicate the issue + URL

This happened on one of my PRs for a personal project: agriyakhetarpal/jupyterlite-pdf-exporter#27, which I merged. However, this should be applicable to just about any project that uses Dependabot, really.
