[FEATURE]Add optional album art display using MPD’s albumart command and modern terminal image protocols #641

Closed as duplicate

Description

@rhitikag

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I often use ncmpcpp as my main MPD client, and while it’s very feature-rich and lightweight, I find myself wishing it could display the album art of the currently playing track.

Describe the solution you'd like
I’d like ncmpcpp to optionally display album art beside the playlist or in the “now playing” view.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I’ve tried using external scripts (e.g., via mpc current and chafa) to display the album art in another pane using tmux or Kitty splits. While this works, it feels disconnected from the ncmpcpp interface

    I’d like to try contributing to this feature myself.
    I’m new to open source, but I can start small — maybe by adding basic local album art display.
    Could you please point me to where I should start in the codebase?

    There is a PR already: #437
