[BUG] Tag editing fails for libraries on mounted cifs volumes #600
Describe the bug
My music library is stored in a SMB share for access across my network. My linux machine has the share mounted via a systemd mount, with the uid/gid set to be my user's. I have RW permissions on all files in the mount and can create and modify all files in the mount in other programs.
When ncmpcpp is pointed at either the mounted volume (/mnt/<vol>/music), or at a symlink to this directory from within my homedir (~/music), all tag updates fail with a Permission denied error. I have double checked the permission bits, and all files/dirs show 755 for the permissions.
When I point ncmpcpp/mpd at a directory local to my machine with the same files in the same structure with the same permission bits, tag writing works as expected
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Mount a cifs volume via systemd, using your user's uid and gid
Point mpd/ncmpcpp at the volume
Attempt to edit tags on any file
See Permission denied error
Expected behavior ncmpcpp is able to successfully update tag information
Screenshots/Logs
Error in the tui
Permission bits on the file in question ps output showing the user attached to both the mpd and ncmpcpp
Desktop (please complete the following information):
Just wanted to let you know that i use the same setup and Tag Editing works okay on my system. So it's likely that this is a local permissions issue for you and not an ncmpcpp bug.

Here is my systemd mount for reference:
