[FEATURE] Separate, fully independent main playlist instance for each saved Playlists #578
[FEATURE] Separate, fully independent main playlist (or queue) instance for each saved Playlists
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I use another players that heavy focused on playlists but they use different approach: they don't have a "Main Playlist", every Playlist you created has its own "Main Playlist/Main queue" that doesn't depend on other playlists.
You don't need to clear "Main Playlist/Main queue" and load playlist into it.
you create many playlists, you don't need a queue of songs, you just select any playlist, double click on a song to start playing, and player would start playing that playlist until the last song or indefinitely (depending on the setting). If you need to switch to other playlist-2, just select to play any song from from playlist-2 and so on..
Describe the solution you'd like
I think the solution could be something like this:
- a separate, independent "Main Playlist/Main queue" instance for each saved Playlists. So you don't need to clear Main Playlist anymore before loading another saved playlist, instead you just select saved playlist and click a song to play, that automatically would activate a separate queue associated only with that particular saved playlist.
I think every mpd client should have this (or option/setting at least)..
Describe alternatives you've considered
So in order to reproduce the workflow of other players I have to constantly clear the Main Playlist in ncmpcpp and load my saved playlist into it. If you constantly switching between many playlist it would become pretty annoying I think.
I was expected that I could just use window 5 "Playlist editor" to select playlist and play songs without the need to use Main Playlist at all (window-1). But it doesn't work this way.
Additional context
Here is example of the Tauon player, you can see a Playlists list on top like tabs.
Each saved playlists has its own queue:
