[Suggestion] :: Display embedded album art #306

Open

Description

@szalishchuk

it would be great if ncmpcpp could display album art embedded into the tracks in one of it's view modes, for instance, as a part of the header in the alternative user interface. Previously this wasn't feasible without mpd support, but it looks like this feature is on it's way to being released: Album art PR merged delivered in scope of Add support for embedded cover art feature request.

Do you guys have any plans for integration with it in the foreseeable future?

In regard to actually rendering the image in the terminal, emulators have limited support, but iTerm and urxvt with pixbuf should work fine, as proven with previous experiments.

    I'm wishing this to come up too, plus I would love if it should look for cover in the folder of the file, then embedded in the track ;)

    Album art PR is merged now. Would be nice to see this feature in this client.

    For rendering the image ueberzug could be useful. See also fmui for an implementation.

    The file explorer ranger also supports the Kitty terminal emulator, which supports to display images per default Kitten.

    Consider this as a stopgap measure, using it right now without flaws. Granted, it works best for users of tiling window managers, where having separate windows open doesn't look that weird.
