Software Engineer & Open-Source Contributor 🚀
Focused on solving bugs, building developer tooling, and delivering reliable Pull Requests.
Three merged contributions to GossipMesh, authored as metgrok. Each entry links to the implementation and the tests included in its PR.
1. Per-peer rate limiting — PR #208 · Merged
- Problem: limit message flooding and excessive bandwidth use by individual peers.
- Implementation: token-bucket rate limiting, separate frequency and byte limits, bounded peer tracking, and transport integration.
- Checks included: 14 test functions covering refill and burst limits, independent peers, LRU eviction, dropped packets, and concurrent consumption.
- Review: task #149 · implementation · tests
2. Adaptive congestion control — PR #229 · Merged
- Problem: adjust outgoing traffic as network conditions and packet acknowledgements change.
- Implementation: a sliding-window controller with slow start, congestion avoidance, loss handling, RTT/jitter tracking, and per-peer management.
- Checks included: 16 test functions covering window saturation, ACK/loss handling, pacing, peer isolation, and concurrent sends and acknowledgements.
- Review: task #228 · implementation · tests
3. Message prioritization and routing — PR #230 · Merged
- Problem: prioritize control traffic while keeping lower-priority messages moving.
- Implementation: multiple priority queues, weighted scheduling, aging, message classification, and handler dispatch.
- Checks included: 17 test functions covering control-message precedence, FIFO order, aging, capacity limits, routing, and concurrent enqueue/dequeue.
- Review: task #181 · implementation · tests
I focus on scoped Python bug fixes, regression tests, and developer tooling.
A useful starting point is a reproducible example, expected behavior, Python version, and relevant logs. We agree on scope and acceptance checks before implementation; the handover includes a focused patch and verification notes.
For an initial enquiry, open an issue in this profile repository with a short description and a link to the relevant project. Share only information suitable for a public issue.

- 🔬 Reproduce First: Start with a reproducible example and clear acceptance checks.
- 🧹 Clean & Maintainable: Follow the project style and keep dependencies and changes focused.
- 🔎 Reviewable Changes: Explain the problem, implementation, and verification in each handover.
- 🛡️ Regression Checks: Add targeted automated checks where the project supports them and state what was verified.
