I think the issue was changes made in #17543 exposed a problem with
to_rgba_arrayreturning a zero-sized array withcolor='none'. As far as I know'none'should be interpreted as RGBA 0, 0, 0, 0, but the documentation ofmatplotlib.colorsdoesn't seem to mention'none'at all.
