I am new to Linux (and NOT a programmer) & I cannot seem to get either of the built-in cameras to be recognized. What am I missing to be able to share video &/or my screen in a Google Meet, Zoom or Teams meeting?

I'm not sure I remember everything I've tried so far, but I found this: https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Camera-Support & the commands returned "command not found" for me, so I suspect I don't have all the required elements/dependencies even though this is a fresh install & "all packages are up to date". I think I found the bin files, but they are in a zst that I don't have permission to uncompress.
I added the app Cheese that opens with the warning "There was an error playing video from the webcam", and the camera app still says "No camera found".
I also found this page: https://libcamera.org/getting-started.html & copy pasted the first section of code to install libcamera-tools that I was told should contain the camera, but I don't know how to to access or what to do with these tools. I also don't know how to check to see if I have all the required dependencies.
I booted in BIOS a few times & turned everything on, but now I believe I have the IR camera off. So I can change these settings again if need be.
There were other things I tried from old camera related questions, but nothing has worked for me so far.
