📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe manifest sync script now supports private GitHub access. It resolves credentials from environment variables or GitHub CLI, uses the authenticated Contents API, and reports missing credentials or likely 404 causes. ChangesManifest synchronization

hookmyapp/hookmyapp is private and the script sent no credentials, so raw.githubusercontent.com answered 404 for every run. GitHub returns 404 rather than 401 for private content, so the failure read like a bad pinned SHA and sent an earlier session looking for a commit that was there all along. Fetch through the contents API with a token from GITHUB_TOKEN, GH_TOKEN, or `gh auth token`. With no credentials at all, say that instead of printing a bare 404, and annotate a real 404 with both things it can mean. No manifest drift: src/errors/manifest.json is byte-identical to the pinned SHA once the fetch works.

Prefer GH_TOKEN over GITHUB_TOKEN
When both variables are populated—for example, when GITHUB_TOKEN is repository-scoped while a separately supplied GH_TOKEN can read the private monorepo—the script always sends the unusable GITHUB_TOKEN and fails with 404 without trying the valid credential. This also reverses the precedence documented by gh help environment: “GH_TOKEN, GITHUB_TOKEN (in order of precedence).” Check GH_TOKEN first so the explicit cross-repository credential can override the default token.

- GH_TOKEN before GITHUB_TOKEN, matching `gh help environment`. An explicitly supplied GH_TOKEN is how you override a repository-scoped GITHUB_TOKEN that cannot read the private monorepo; the old order sent the unusable one and 404'd without trying the good credential. - Pin `gh auth token --hostname github.com`. With GH_HOST set to an Enterprise instance a bare call returns that host's token, which we then send to api.github.com. - The 404 hint names the manifest path: a 404 can also mean the file is absent at that SHA, not only that the SHA or the access is wrong.
sync-errors-manifest.mjsfetches from a private repo without credentials, so it always 404s.Linear: https://linear.app/hookmyapp/issue/AIT-459
