Hi there, I'm Damaris Castro 👋

Full Stack Developer — JavaScript · React · Node.js · Java · Spring Boot · PostgreSQL 📍 Barcelona | 🗣️ Spanish · English · Catalan

I spent 10+ years leading content, community and SEO for an international digital platform — working alongside engineering and product teams across Europe, LATAM and the Middle East.

Now I build the products I used to help define. Currently completing an 850-hour Full Stack + AI bootcamp at FemCoders (Factoría F5).

🚀 Projects

Mundo Tech — Editorial Back-office

Team of 4 · Agile/Scrum

Editorial platform with a role-based workflow: authors draft and submit articles, managers review, publish or reject. Focused on frontend, with some backend work in the early stages.

React 19 Vite Sass React Router Axios Vitest Java 25 Spring Boot 3 PostgreSQL

  • Built the role-based permission system (author/manager) and article state machine: DRAFT → IN_REVIEW → PUBLISHED.
  • Implemented image upload (multipart) and the shared component library.
  • Integrated the React frontend with the Spring Boot REST API.
  • 87 tests (Vitest + React Testing Library) covering permissions, auth context, services and routing.

Feminist Library

Team of 4 · Mob programming

Console application for managing a book catalogue (create, read, update, delete), built in plain Java with a layered MVC architecture and JDBC persistence.

Java JDBC PostgreSQL JUnit Mockito

  • Built as a mob programming team: contributed across all layers — controller, repositories, model and database.
  • Normalized relational model (books, authors, publishers, many-to-many genres) with ISBN validation and duplicate checks.
  • Manual constructor-based dependency injection, without a framework.
  • Designed the console interface: colour output and formatting for readability.

Code

Tarot Reader

Pair project

Web app that draws tarot cards from an external REST API and lets users save, edit and delete their readings.

React JavaScript Axios REST APIs json-server

  • Built in a pair, splitting features and pairing on the harder ones: shared work across API integration, CRUD and UI.
  • Consumed an external card API (images, names, meanings) and built full CRUD for saved readings against a json-server backend.
  • Used PATCH for partial updates and reverse-chronological ordering of saved readings.

🧰 My Toolbox

🌱 Currently

Deepening software architecture, clean code and testing. Especially interested in where frontend development, performance and technical SEO overlap.
