I'm experiencing jupyter lab build failures when bqplot is installed, similar to issue #1602.

I can confirm that it's bqplot causing this issue. I recreated my environment and did not install bqplot, or any packages using it as a dependency, in my case: leafmap and geemap, and jupyter lab builds just fine.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to resolve? I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if it's an issue caused by some other package, not unlike issue #1602?
