Autocomplete-python after v1.17.0 not working with jedi #449
There is an error in autocomplete-python v.1.17.0 version.
like @gerardpc said, After downgrading to v.1.16.0 and running it, autocomplete-python was executed.
But, There is no function description.
Thank you @hallymer ! Just to clarify: should i copy the whole folder content or only the "keymaps" file?
I'm on MacOS and have Python 3.9 but it should work the same I guess.
Edit: I tried to copy either the whole folder (didn't work) or just everything from "keymaps" to "README.MD" but it didn't work so far. I get an error compiling the Less stylesheet (although I didn't touch that file..).
@paul-grassl Sorry. Looking at the content again, it wasn't clarify.
I was writing this morning and writing the first Issues of autocomplete-python, so I was nervous. What I meant was to copy whole folder content (from "keymaps" to "README.md"). 😄
Install a recent version of python and then checking the box to ** (very important) Add Python to PATH** during the installation. OR Manually add Python to Windows Path (Google for more details:wink:)
Use command prompt(CMD) and then Verify jedi installation through "pip install jedi" command
Reinstalling autocomplete-python v1.17.0
As a second solution, you can use autocomplete-python v1.17.0 right away without downgrades.
I had the same issue. I installed autocomplete-python and it doen't worked at all. For me hallymer's first solution worked under Ubuntu. Just the folder has to be changed to ~/.atom/packages/autocomplete-python

Same thing happened to me.

Just to make sure I downgraded to 1.16.0 and it works again.

The latest readme states "Jedi-driven release notes follow", which I assume meant addition notes about configuration is coming ?

Same problem. I guess it has to do with this(?): ipython/ipython#12740

OS is based on Windows 10 and Python version is version 3.8
(https://github.com/autocomplete-python/autocomplete-python/releases) Download version 1.16.0 from the link next to it.
Unzip it once you have downloaded either "zip" or "tar.gz".
When unpacked, there are "keymaps" to "README.md" in the "autocomplete-python-1.16.0" folder, copy it(Ctrl+C).
Go to C:\Users\UserID\.atom\packages\autocomplete-python and paste(Ctrl+V) the copied file.
Go to C:\Users\UserID\.atom\packages\autocomplete-python\lib\jedi\parser
You will see the file "grammar3.X.txt". Duplicate the file.
Change the file name according to your version of Python. (My python version is 3.8, so I have to write it as garmmar3.8.txt.)
When you're done, Restart Atom.
This method is temporary until the next update of version 1.17.0

None of the process above work. It doesn't work with the system jedi. So I just use the working atom autocomplete-python-jedi
