Description:
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

Action version:

Platform:

  • Ubuntu
  • macOS
  • Windows

Runner type:

  • Hosted
  • Self-hosted

I have the following which runs for python 3.11 on ubuntu-latest and macOS-latest:

    - name: Update PATH
      if: ${{ runner.os != 'Windows' }}
      shell: bash
      run: echo "$HOME/.local/bin" >> $GITHUB_PATH

I am trying to update that path but it is not working.

It does work for older python versions (3.8, 3.9, 3.10).

Hello @codectl. Could you please attach a public repository to reproduce the issue? For now it does not look like an issue with actions/setup-python. Besides, could you please fill out the form (full description and actions version)?

    Hi @dmitry-shibanov .

I noticed that the macOS agent running python 3.11 is a framework build.

    site.USER_BASE
Path to the base directory for the user site-packages. Can be None if getuserbase() hasn’t been called yet. Default value is ~/.local for UNIX and macOS non-framework builds, ~/Library/Python/X.Y for macOS framework builds, and %APPDATA%\Python for Windows. This value is used by Distutils to compute the installation directories for scripts, data files, Python modules, etc. for the user installation scheme. See also PYTHONUSERBASE.

Hello @codectl. Starting from python 3.11 for macOS the action uses universal2 packages. But Linux and Windows were not changed.

Thanks @dmitry-shibanov ! While you are right, my issue was not related to this repository.
