I decided to start the wiki for first-time users to contribute any problems they might be experiencing with this self help course. Hi there. If you are a new user reading O'Reilly's "Introducing GitHub" A non-technical guide--you've made it to the correct sample project.

My question is: Can we new users actually modify this repository "github-example" by adding files, folders and making any changed to the master branch? Can we become contributors?
