    This issue is closed by #1912. For posterity:

    • one for sqlite3 based (suitable for single processes)

    This was originally implemented in #1912, but was removed/purged after the team review. (The discussion was somewhat coupled to the usage of pickle for serialization/deserialization, but I don't recall the full story.)

    • one for file-stream based (suitable for concurrent processes, thanks to atomic I/O)

    This was implemented as FileStreamProgramCache.
