Failed indexing jobs currently retain only str(error), so MCP clients cannot inspect the underlying failure. Add error_type and a traceback capped at 32,768 characters, with a clear truncation marker, and capture diagnostics in both tree-sitter and SCIP indexing failure paths. Preserve the existing errors[0] message and JSON response contracts. Update MCP and troubleshooting documentation.
Validation: 10 diagnostic/job tests pass, covering exception capture, truncation, job-status/list serialization, existing job behavior, and an indexing failure. Ruff passes on changed Python files. The combined maintenance unit run passed 1,552 tests with 8 skips; its two Haskell failures reproduce on unchanged main and are addressed separately by #1758.
