Capture Tracebacks on Background Job Failures
- Gap: The async queue executor (
jobs.py) swallows raw tracebacks when background tasks fail, making diagnostic trace extraction difficult. - Relevant Files:
src/codegraphcontext/core/jobs.py
- Task:
- Catch job execution errors and save the traceback stack output in the job results dictionary, logging the detailed stack trace to the server logs.
- Acceptance Criteria:
- Fetching job status for failed actions returns the error context and traceback.

Hi! I’d like to work on this issue. While investigating, I noticed the exception handling now appears to be in src/codegraphcontext/tools/indexing/scip_pipeline.py rather than src/codegraphcontext/core/jobs.py. Should the traceback handling be implemented there, or is there another background job executor you intended?

#1759 adds bounded traceback and exception-type diagnostics to both background indexing failure paths, retaining concise errors[0] and exposing diagnostics through existing job-status/list responses. It has serialization, truncation and indexing failure-path coverage. Please track remaining non-indexing telemetry scope here; this issue is not closed before acceptance.

#1766 integrates #1759's bounded traceback/error-type diagnostics and backward-compatible errors[0]. It includes serialization and indexing failure-path coverage; merge/CI status is tracked in that PR.
