The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Executive Council provides a unified voice on the critical decisions VA must make regarding the Federal EHR.
The EHR Executive Council fosters efficient decision-making and organizational readiness by implementing enterprise-standard sustainable, scalable processes, policies, and procedures. It equips VA to address emerging needs, close gaps in technology and standardization, and improve overall system effectiveness. The council has decision rights over prioritization of EHR solutions, enterprise policy impacts, and strategic goals.
The EHR Executive Council (Tier 2) is part of VA’s tiered EHR decision-making structure and is supported by 15 EHR Tier 1 subject matter expert (SME) teams. These SMEs represent provider perspectives during council decision-making, provide problem-solving, and make recommendations below the council level. The teams help the EHR Executive Council address enterprise-level decisions to resolve capability and functionality gaps, policy issues, and challenges that span VA.
The 15 EHR Tier 1 SME teams are:
- Acute Care Delivery
